As more and more people work and spend time at home, having pristine indoor air quality becomes even more crucial. Without a top-caliber indoor system, air quality comes under attack from volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pollutants, humidity, and ventilation.

Intermountain Heating & Air Conditioning is the very first (and still one of the very few) Carrier factory authorized factory dealers in Idaho. To continue offering quality products year after year we make sure to uphold the strict, high standards that come with that responsibility. Not just because we have to, but because we want to. We work with Carrier because our values align, we only provide excellent service with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. It may not be easy, but it's what's right.

In addition to complying with the specifications required by Carrier, we also offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all new Carrier installations. You will receive a 10-year parts warranty on all carrier products upon timely registration.

We guarantee all repairs for 90 days, and we also offer extended warranty programs.

Top-rated indoor quality services

We want to help keep you and your family safe. Our air quality solutions include humidifiers, ventilators, UV (ultraviolet) lamps, air filters, and monitors. They work to reduce or eliminate 1) allergens like dust, pet dander, chemical fumes, or mold and 2) harmful air pollutants, viruses, and bacteria as well. Our technical team will work with you to determine which system is best for you to maintain the healthiest environment at home.

Indoor air cleaning systems

Maintaining a high-quality air environment in your home is achieved through a combination of removing airborne pollutants and ventilating with clean air from outside. Centralized air cleaning systems monitor and treat the air flowing throughout the home while portable units work as spot filters, concentrating in the room or space where they are placed. Using these cannot completely eliminate pollutants from the air, although they can significantly reduce them.

Carbon monoxide detectors

Carbon Monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and toxic. Although we are exposed to small amounts every day, inhaling large quantities of this compound gas leads to a phenomenon called "CO poisoning." This type of poisoning is hazardous and requires immediate medical assistance. Likelihood of CO poisoning increases in poorly ventilated spaces as well as proximity to heaters, stovetops, furnaces, or fireplaces. While all of these appliances individually produce only a tiny amount of this gas, having a combination of them running somewhere with poor air circulation is a recipe for trouble.

What is the solution? To keep your family safe, you should invest in a top-tier carbon monoxide detector. Carbon monoxide detectors work similarly to fire or smoke alarms. They monitor the CO levels and go off if they cross over into dangerous levels. CO is notoriously difficult to detect without mechanical assistance, so keep your family safe and invest in one today.

Humidifiers

Humidifiers work on the opposite part of the evaporation cycle as they introduce moisture into the air to prevent many unpleasant side effects. Overly dry air leads to the skin and throat drying out, headaches, or even irritated vocal cords. In extreme cases, it can cause cracked lips or bloody noses.

There are humidifiers to fit almost every space, budget, and preference. Options include central humidity systems, evaporators, or impeller/ultrasonic humidifiers. An air moisture level of between 30%-50% is generally recommended and can even help with cold and flu symptoms. Give us a call today if you want more information.

Dehumidifiers

A dehumidifier works by taking the moisture out of the air in your home. Humidity is essentially airborne water vapor, and the appliance will suck out this vapor and condense it into its liquid form, thereby preventing it from escaping again. A dehumidifier at home works wonders for people with allergies and asthma by removing classic triggers. Triggers typically take the form of mold, dust mites, pollen, and animal hairs. The sufferer can experience intense wheezing, itching, chest pain, or irritation.

Similarly, an intensely humid environment will require asthmatics lungs to work in overdrive to compensate. Neither scenario is ideal when creating the relaxing home environment you deserve. Keeping dust and mold levels to a minimum has the added benefit of preventing home invaders like silverfish, spiders, or cockroaches.

What causes indoor air quality problems?

Causes of indoor air quality issues

A drop in your indoor air quality usually originates from one or a combination of three causes:

  1. Indoor pollutant sources release high levels of unwanted gasses or particles into the air.

  2. Poor quality or Insufficient Ventilation systems are failing to redistribute air.

  3. High temperatures and humidity levels act as a catalyst for gas concentration.

Fuel-combustion appliances, recent home renovations, tobacco, and cleaning products are the most common contributors to indoor pollution.

Short term effects

The short-term effects of poor indoor air quality (IAQ) can vary from irritation to the eyes, nose, or throat, dizziness, or headaches. Other factors include the hazard level of the pollutant, length of exposure, and the individual's biological sensitivity, especially if they have a pre-existing condition like asthma. Short-term exposure is usually treatable and carries few long-term consequences. Typically, immediate improvement is seen after detecting and removing the pollutant from the source.

Long term effects

Long-term effects of exposure to low-quality or hazardous air can range from worrying to incurable. Science has not yet produced an accurate method to pinpoint the timeline of respiratory diseases, heart conditions, and cancers resulting from the inhalation of airborne pollutants. This means that we cannot determine if these conditions develop from low-level, long-term exposure or high-level short-term bursts of proximity. What does this mean? To protect your family and yourself, invest in reliable air quality appliances today.
